第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分) 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中选出最佳选项。 A Some libraries use unique architecture to encourage visitors to explore the racks and settle down with a new book, or use flowing libraries to bring books to hard-to-reach populations. Kansas City Library (Kansas City, Missouri) Along the south wall of this parking garage’s exterior, visitors are treated to what looks like a huge shelf of books. The building originally served as a bank, which is readily apparent when the library has screenings in its Vault Theater, inside an actual 1925 bank vault. Stuttgart City Library (Stuttgart, Germany) Opened in 2011, this nine-story public library designed by Eun Young Yi is characterized by its impressive white-on-white color scheme, its bold cubic shape and its cavernous interior. This cultural center for the city, designed to feel open and full of light, can be entered from any of its four sides, and readers can borrow artwork as well as books. The Camel Library Service (North Eastern Province, Kenya) To fight with low literacy rates in the desert of Kenya, the government created a roaming library composed of nine camels to bring books to villages. The library travels four days a week serving the region’s migratory people. Currently the service focuses on children, but with more funding they plan to increase their reach both in distance and the titles they carry. Macquarie University Library (Sydney, Australia) A stunning combination of cutting edge and sustainable, this building was made from recycled materials, features a green roof, and was designed to imitate the look of a eucalyptus tree. It is also state of the art, using robot cranes to bring requested books to the front desk. 21.What is the feature of Kansas City Library? A.It used to be a bank. C.It served as a park lot. B.It has only a book shelf. D.It makes use of robot cranes. 22.Which of the following provides books for migratory people? A.Kansas City Library. C.The Camel Library Service. 23.What’s the purpose of the libraries? A.To sell the artwork in libraries. C.To show the art of architecture. B This painting Spring Bouquet has a precise structure. The flowers spill over into the lower left-hand corner, with an imbalance as free and as wild as nature. But at once the artist responds to this unbalance. To the right of the vase, Renoir has developed a heavy shadow area, rich in purples and sharply contrasted with the light below it. The placing of the straight line in the lower right side is necessary. If the reader covers this line, he will see that the composition becomes unbalanced.
B.Stuttgart City Library. D.Macquarie University Library. B.To urge people to read books. D.To keep people staying in the libraries.
The Impressionist technique had not yet developed when Renoir painted this picture. Yet the painting with light and color indicates Impressionism is around the corner; there is something of that school in the feeling of the out-of-doors that Renoir has acquired. The texture (纹理) of the flowers is described. Above all, one can’t help saying the very nice smell of the flowers is there, too. Pierre-Auguste Renoir was born in 1841. He began working as a young painter of porcelain and textiles. At age 21, Renoir entered the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and went on to study under the instructions of painter Charles Gleyre’s. Even though his paintings had been initially rejected by the Academy and the public, with time he became one of the most admired artists of his generation. Unfortunately, in 19, he was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (风湿性关节炎). It is a disease that causes a lot of pain. In addition, the person affected by it may also have deformities (畸形). Consequently, his movements became very limited and each movement was a big and certainly painful effort. His son, Jean Renoir, writes in the book Renoir, My Father after his father passed away, the reaction of the people to the painting of the father, after seeing his hands: Visitors who were unprepared for this could not take their eyes off his deformity. Though they did not dare to mention it, their reaction would be expressed by some such phrase as “It isn’t possible!” With hands like that, how can he paint those pictures? There’s some mystery somewhere. 24.What can readers see in the painting? A.A vase in the left corner. C.A straight line at the bottom. B.A shadow to the vase’s right. D.A natural light in the middle. 25.What seems quite special about this picture when people appreciate it? A.The painting material. C.The smelly flower taste. B.The color choice. D.The impressive feeling. 26.What does the underlined word “this” in the last paragraph refer to? A.Renoir, My Father. C.Rheumatoid arthritis. 27.Which can be a suitable title for the text? A.Patience Is a Lifetime Practice C.Impressionism Is a Unique Technique C Seth Magle is an urban ecologist in Chicago. In 2021, he started building a network of fellow urban animal lovers from around the world. They’re working to collect information so that it can be compared in different cities. With the goal of trying to create more wildlife inclusive cities, the network helps reduce human wildlife conflict and increase human wildlife coexistence in the massively urbanizing areas. In Chicago, Magle and his team have been watching their city’s wildlife for about 10 years. All together, they have over 100 camera traps set up across different types of urban environments from the downtown Loop and city parks to nature preserves and suburb golf courses. During times of recent extreme heat, we do definitely see animals reduce movement and just stay where they
B.Spring Bouquet. D.Renoir’s bravery. B.Pain Passes, but Beauty Remains D.Work hard, and You Will Catch Up
are. It’s probably energetically difficult to move around when it’s so hot. Although this works for a short term in high temperature, it’s not ideal over a longer period because it means less time to search for food or a new mate. As Magle and his network of urban researchers look toward the future and climate change, they predict bigger shifts. Temperatures everywhere are projected to warm, so wildlife in urban settings and beyond will likely have to shift their normal regions a bit further north to where it feels more comfortable and to what they’re already used to. We don’t have armadillos in Chicago, but we have them in the southern part of the state. And they seem to be migrating north. Only time will tell how our urban wildlife reacts to these longer-term shifts in temperature. For now, it sounds like urban animals — so long as they’re healthy — are totally capable of handling a few days of extreme heat here and there. 28.What is the aim of the network? A.To observe wildlife in different cities. C.To collect information of urban animals. 29.What’s the main idea of paragraph 3? A.The tracks of wildlife activities. C.The way of watching city animals. B.The movement of urban animals. D.The different types of urbanization. B.To compare animals’ living conditions. D.To help human and wildlife coexist. 30.In what way do animals escape extreme heat? A.Keeping still. C.Shifting to the north. 31.What is the text probably taken from? A.A market report. C.A biological textbook. D In July, Australian artist Matthew Griffin had his work Pickle(《酸黄瓜》)exhibited at a New Zealand gallery. The work is merely a pickle taken from a McDonald’s burger, stuck onto the gallery’s ceiling with ketchup(番茄酱)on it. With a price tag of NZ$10,000 (about 42,200 yuan), it started an ongoing debate: Is this art? In fact, this is not the only strange artwork people have seen in recent years. In 2019, Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan’s work Comedian featured a store-bought banana with duct tape(强力胶). Far before that, Artist Rogier van der Zwang used 3D animation instead of painting materials to make visual rainbow. These trends bring us back to the classic discussion on how to understand art. As British art historian Ernst Gombrich famously put it, “There really is no such thing as art. There are only artists.” Art is a personal expression; ultimately its agency is created by the artist. As each era cultivates its unique artists, the private message an artwork conveys can connect with every individual across time. Great artists from the past to the present all enjoy both fame and criticism. The way they appeal to certain audiences and encourage a wide range of debates and interpretations is exactly the charm of art. Opponents may hold that despite the artist’s right to create, it is not up to the artist to determine if a piece of work is considered art. It is true that we see only the leftover of a cheeseburger. There is no real technique in
B.Moving constantly. D.Looking for food everywhere. B.A science magazine. D.A social research report.
Griffin’s Pickle. However, this is also where it is open to interpretation: For some, the pickle seems meaningless and artificial; for some, the pickle can be a commercial and cultural symbol. There is undoubtedly an innovation of “form”. It shows the artist’s exploration of the vehicle of art. The slice of pickle can be seen as a symbol. The ketchup plays an influence on the colors, with the surrounding white wall being another vehicle for expression. After all, art welcomes various responses, which explains why viewing art is such an engaging experience. In a word, we should always keep an open mind toward any embodiment(化身)of art. 32.What do we know about the work Pickle? A.It’s made on the gallery’s ceiling. B.It is as simple as the banana work. C.People’s opinions vary on the work. D.People think it’s not worth the money. 33.Which of the following is true according to paragraph 3? A.Art can connect with people easily. B.Artists are always admired by people. C.The interpretation of art is critical. D.The understanding of art is subjective. 34.What’s the author’s attitude to the work Pickle? A.Objective B.Opposed C.Favorable D.Indifferent 35.According to this passage , art can be best described as ______.
