I thought it was lucky that no waiting line here as we entered the doctor's office.
"Hi Doctor, my Dad has high blood pressure, and was taking pills everyday, but we forgot to bring his pills back to hometown. It's about one week since he didn't take any pill. Would you please take a look and make a prescription for him" --- I said to doctor anxiously
"Oh ok...What are the highest pressure and the lowest pressure?" Said the doctor slowly, kept his eyes focusing on the computer screen, clicking the mouse.
" We tested it at home, shall we do again here?" I asked.
" Oh ok..go find a nurse to help him test now. " the doctor said calmly, still eyes on the screen. In the meantime, his phone rang.
I looked around, no nurse. I went down to the hallway, saw one and asked her to come with me to the doctor's room. She tested my Dad's blood pressure quickly with no paper record, not even tell the doctor, just disappeared soon. It made me feel like she was more like a janitor.
The doctor was talking on the phone for a while.
We waited ....
Three more patients came into the room.
All waited ...
Finally the doctor got off the phone call. I immediately told him the numbers from the test.
"Oh ok, I prescribe one box of pill for now. Go to drug counter and get your pill." The doctor said as his fingers back to the mouse, clicking... eyes still on the screen...
This is the county hospital in my hometown.
