Good morning, ladies and gentleman. It’s my great pleasure to be here sharing my lesson with you. The content of my lesson is New Target English Grade Nine Unit 5“It must belong to Carla” Section B 1-2c. Thank you!

The first section: Teaching material analysis Part1: Status and function.

This unit is Go for it Unit 5 of Grade 9 “It must belong to Carla” the fourth period.The New Target English using task-based language teaching model. Combining the topic,Communicative functions,and the language structure,Teaching activities reflect the students' learning strategies and learning emotion. This unit is mainly Modal Verb .

Through learning this language to make inferences. This period students are asked to talk about an alien is chasing a people with the target

language. And to practice listening and speaking skill. Make them have better understanding of must, might, could and can’t.

Part2: Analysis of the students

The students have certain listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. The students of Grade Nine have formed their own outlook and values on life. But can't express it in English .At the same time,They have heavy learning task,and they are busy with study. Therefore more need to the teacher in the classroom use of lively, various forms of teaching methods to stimulate students' learning enthusiasm and confidence.

Part3: Teaching Aims

According to the new standard requirements:To inspire and cultivate students' interest in learning English,To make the students set up

confidence,develop good study habits,Enable students to master some basic knowledge of English listening, speaking, reading and writing skills and form comprehensive ability,This class the teaching goal is to determine the following:

1. Knowledge and Ability

a. Words:chase,sky,helicopter,creature,catch,extremely,

interview,unhappy,noise,wind,neighbor.

b. Sentence pattern:

a. Through activities, presentations, make students interest in learning English,Let the students to speak,Actively participate in communication.

b. let students to study hard and to explore the universe in the mystery.

Part4: Teaching key points

1. new words :chase, sky, helicopter, creature, catch . extremely,

interview, unhappy , noise, wind, neighbor .

2. The usage of must, might, could and can’t. 3. listening and writing.

Part 5:Teaching difficult points

1. Write one sentence for each picture. 2. Listen and complete the sentence.

3. Finish the story with two or three sentences.

The second section: Teaching method

This section imposed on students as the main body. Student is the master of learning activities,Teacher is the organizer and guide of the student activity. Teachers should pay attention to the interactive teaching and learning,In the teaching process,To respect the students' interests and feelings. The main method is Task-based method; Communicative method; Situational teaching method. To make the students under the guidance of teachers through the practice and participating in cooperative learning methods to complete the task.

The third section:Learning method

1. Students should grasp the opportunity to practice.

2. Take an active part in class activities. Cultivate cooperation relationships.

3. Complete the task seriously.

The fourth section:Teaching procedures

Step1: Greeting

Greet the students. Make self-introduction. Step 2: Revision

Review the last period. Do some exercise.

(the purpose is to let students review what they have learnt last class.)

Step 3:Warming up

Show some pictures,let students guess what is happening and why they do this.

(The teacher ask ,students answer.It can interest students.) Step 4: Presention

1. Show the picture of part 1 with ppt. Ask students to guess what is happening .

2. Present the sentence of 2c A:What is … doing? B: He/ It is ….

A: Why do you think …?

B: He (It) might/ could/ must be doing … for/ to ….

(This part is to make students review what have learnt and get ready for the next part.) Step 5: Pairwok.

Let Students do pairwork as the conversations above.Use must/may/ might or can’t to make inferences. The teacher gives a sample dialogue.

(This is to get ready for Part 2a and 2b) Step 6: listening

1. Listen for general meaning and number the picture 1-3.At the same time, show some sentences of the tapescript and let students fill in the blanks of the sentences.(The purpose is to let students familiar with the new words and the tapescript. It can make 2b easier to finish.)

2. Listen again for details and complete the sentences in 2b. 3. Check the answers.

4. Listen and repeat, play the recording sentence by sentence and students listen and repeat.

(This part is to practice and improve students’ listening and speaking skills.) Step 7:Discuss

1. Divide he class into two groups and discuss the picture on the ppt and imagine what will happen at last.

2. Ask two pairs of students give their opinions. Step 8:Preview 3a

1. List the new words of this passage. Let the students to find them out in the passage as fast as they can. And make sure they know the meaning.(Unhappy extremely interview wind neighbor noise )

(The purpose is to make student find the key words and understand them.)

2. Do T/F exercise. Give some sentences according to the passage and let students to check T or F.The sentences include the new words of Page 38.

(This can make students know the general meaning of the passage and they can master the new words with the sentences.)

A. Strange things are happening in our neighborhood and everyone is unhappy. (T)

B. Every night we hear strange sounds outside our window. (F) C. The police think it must be the wind. (F)

D. Zhou Gu thought it could be an animal when he was interviewed by local newspaper. (F)

E. Qi Hui is Zhou Gu’s next door neighbor.She thought it might be a dog. (T) Step 9:Summary 1. The new words.

Write two or three sentences to finish the story in 2a. Step11: Blackboard Design
