1. Microblog, as a newly emerging social network, has swept over China, which serves as a convenient media for the public to express opinions freely, share information and disclose the undesirable behavior such as corruption. On the other hand, it is misused by some to defame others and cause chaos in society. What do you
think? Write a composition of about 200 words on the following topic: Is Microblog a Blessing or a Curse?
正确答案: Is Microblog a Blessing or a Curse? Over the past few years, our communication patterns have shifted primarily from face-to-face to social networks, among which the microblog is the latest fascinating development. While highly applauded by its faithful users, it also draws harsh criticism. Personally, I believe microblog has benefited many aspects of our lives enormously. Firstly, as a new means of expression, microblog serves as a convenient platform for ordinary people to give vent to their feelings and voice their opinions. Secondly, the width of information has been broadened, since the grassroots, instead of being passive information receivers, are now able to share what they observe and their comments on certain events. Thirdly, it can intensiy scrutiny on the behavior of every member of the society, especially the government officials. The scandals of the Red Cross Society of China and many other officials are good examples. Admittedly, diere are many problems with the microblog, among which privacy is the major issue. Personal information, such as the whereabouts and occupations of the users, revealed through the microblog may cause troubles. Besides, when the dissemination of information speeds up via the mircroblog, some people irresponsibly spread unfounded rumors and therefore lead to undeserved slanders and disastrous chaos in the victims’ lives. In spite of all the drawbacks, the microblog’s status as a newly emerging medium cannot be challenged in a short term. What we need is better censorship to minimize its negative effects. 涉及知识点:作文
2. University students are busy preparing for exams to get all kinds of certificates for English proficiency, computer skills, accounting, etc. They believe they have more chances of getting a good job with their certificates. However, some people argue that certificates do not necessarily indicate more abilities and better jobs. What is your opinion? Write a composition of about 200 words on the following topic: More Certificates, Better Jobs?
正确答案: More Certificates, Better Jobs? Under the suffocating pressure in the job market, many university students strive to equip themselves with all sorts of certificates, which they hope can help them secure a good job. While piles of certificates can indeed make their CV stand out and provide more job options, yet I still have to say students should be aware that certificates are not necessarily the passport to satisfying jobs. For one thing, certificates cannot reflect the overall ability of a person. Many employers value practical skills and work experiences rather than the number of certificates. The ability to solve problems and handle complicated situations or the tactic to deal with people of different personalities are more important, which are not possibly indicated by a certificate. For another, by working for large numbers of certificates, students tend to go astray in their career planning. They just follow suit instead of spending time in figuring out what they really want. They have elementary knowledge in many fields, yet without the expertise in any of them. Their versatility indeed provides more choices but never guarantees the chance to be chosen. In conclusion, certificates are not equal to ideal jobs. Students should have a serious career planning and expand their knowledge instead of just cramming for exams to get certificates. It is important to cultivate essential virtues such as responsibility and integrity. Remember, bosses are looking for the right person to work for them, not the certificate. 涉及知识点:作文
3. The life of living in dormitory is quite different from that of living at home. How to keep a harmonious relationship with roommates is a challenge for many college students. What do you think is the best way to keep a harmonious relationship in dormitory? Write a composition of about 200 words on the following topic: The Best Way to Keep a Harmonious Relationship in Dormitory
正确答案: The Best Way to Keep a Harmonious Relationship in Dormitory When we mention the phrase “ dormitory life” , a vision of wild parties and loud music probably pops into our mind. It is true that the dormitory relationship can easily run into trouble, confusion and tension for all kinds of reasons. But is there anything we can do to solve this problem? For me, the best way is communication. Communication is vital to any relationship, especially to the dormitory relationship. Students sharing the same dorm come from different family backgrounds and thus have different life styles, habits and characters. Without communication, misunderstanding will be frequent and unavoidable. In the practice of communication, roommates should, first of all, share openly their expectations on issues, such as cleanliness, visitation, music, study time and lights out, before they have problems and get out of control. Once common understanding has been reached, we get the guide for our everyday conduct. Furthermore, it may be necessary to make adjustments as new issues may constantly arise in the future life. Therefore, continuous communication is by all means necessary for us to avoid possible misunderstanding or conflicts. In conclusion, we may be able to enjoy a harmonious dormitory relationship by means of communication, and in this case the dormitory may become our second sweet home away from home. 涉及知识

4. The social development and technological advances are changing the way people connect with each other. Some believe that technological advances contribute greatly to our relationship by providing more means of communication, while others hold the opposite view. What’s your opinion? Write a composition of about 200 words on the following topic: Does Technological Development Make Human Relationship Better?
正确答案: Does Technological Development Make Human Relationship Better? Technological advances have had tremendous impacts on our ways of communication. But there is now a debate over whether this impact is positive or negative. In my view, the technological boons are undermining human relationships. For one thing, while we can communicate faster and more conveniently, in-depth communication is fading away from our daily life. We are more accustomed to grabbing the phone for a one-minute talk instead of a letter filled with love, care and deep thoughts or a face-to-face communication in a coffee bar for a whole afternoon. For another, fancy technological products are depriving families of their time spent together. The chit-chat, story-telling, singing and dancing, and exchanging of thoughts and warm words, which once featured a family have been displaced in this society by TV programs and computer games. In addition,we do not bother to see each other, since ve can talk on the phone or via the Internet. Gradually .friends are becoming talk-on-the-phone acquaintances. For all that is mentioned above, I doubt whether modern technology really contributes to human relationships. On the contrary, I believe it is molding a time when people shield
themselves in tall buildings and are only familiar with their friends’ voices. 涉及知识点:作文
