Last Weekend
Wow, last weekend was so much fun! It felt like it went by in a blur, but I got to do so many cool things. Let me tell you all about it!
It all started on Friday after school. My best friend Aiden came over and we played video games for a few hours. We were totally obsessed with this new game called Cosmic Explorers. It's a space adventure game where you get to fly spaceships, explore new planets, and fight against evil alien forces trying to take over the galaxy. Aiden and I made it all the way to level 12 before my mom called us down for dinner.
After dinner, my dad said we could go mini-golfing as a family. I was so excited because I love mini-golf! We went to the hugest mini-golf course in town, the one with 36 holes and all these crazy obstacles like windmills, loops, and even a miniature Eiffel Tower you have to putt through. My little sister Sarah is only 5 years old, but she's actually pretty good at mini-golf. She beat both me and my dad! I came in second place, which isn't too bad.
On Saturday morning, I slept in until 10am. When I finally dragged myself out of bed, I Could smell my favorite breakfast - chocolate chip pancakes! My mom makes the best pancakes. After devouring a huge stack, I spent most of the morning reading the latest book in my favorite sci-fi series, The Millennial Falcon Chronicles. I'm totally hooked on those books and can't wait for the next one to come out.
That afternoon, the weather was perfect, so my dad took us all to the park. We had a big family game of flag football, which I love. My dad and I were team captains, and we picked our teams schoolyard style. Even though my team lost, I still had an absolute blast running around and playing my favorite sport. Afterwards, we had a picnic lunch of sandwiches, chips, and fresh watermelon. So refreshing!
Later that evening, we all piled into the car and went to the town's outdoor movie theater to see the newest superhero movie, The Uncanny X-Folks. It was an awesome movie with crazy superpowers, intense fight scenes, and just the right amount of humor too. The best part though was getting to spend quality time together as a family. We got a giant tub of popcorn to share and I slurped down an
enormousmousclubicedcoffemicycle milkshake that was as big as my head!
On Sunday, I spent most of the day working on this huge project for school. We had to build a model of one of the systems of the human body. My friend group all picked different systems, and we're going to present them this week in science class. I built a model of the respiratory system out of clay, straws, and other craft supplies. It has the lungs, trachea, bronchi - the whole nine yards! I actually had a lot of fun making it, even though it took forever.
That night for dinner, we had my favorite meal -
make-your-own tacos! My mom laid out a huge spread of taco shells, ground beef, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, salsa, guacamole, you name it. I piled my tacos super high with every topping imaginable. I probably ate about 6 or 7 of them! After dinner, my dad broke out the checkers board and Aiden came back over. We had an epic checkers tournament that lasted for hours. Aiden and I were the finalists and he narrowly beat me, but it was still a total blast.
All in all, last weekend was one for the books. Between hanging out with friends, family activities, movies, sports, and of course lots of good food, I don't think it could've been any better!
I made so many fun memories that I'll never forget. I just hope this upcoming weekend is half as exciting!
